The Locksmith Training Course will take place at our workshop situated within The Storage Team 17 Lea Green Business Park, Eurolink, St Helens, WA9 4TR and will be over five days starting on a Saturday and finishing on a Wednesday. The course times will be 0800-2000 each day with regular refreshment and comfort breaks. The Locksmith Training Course will involve both theory and hands on work in our workshop and also include outside work with one of the trading locksmiths.
There will be an exam at the end of the course which will consist of theory and practicals, this is to ensure that the student has the knowledge and skills considered essential to carry on the business of a locksmith unsupervised. (Don’t worry, the exam is not a pass or fail one, if more practice is needed in any particular areas this will be carried out free of charge). A certificate of completion will be issued at the end of the course enabling the student to set up necessary trade accounts with the major locksmith wholesalers.
The course itself will involve the student taking some of their own notes as simply put the purpose of note taking is to record your understanding of the ideas and concepts discussed and practised during your Locksmith Training Course.
Over 70% of all doors in the UK are now of the uPVC type and so the Locksmith Training Course will focus the most amount of time on these types of door and window locks, however the full course will include the following:
Pin Tumbler (Cylinder) Locks- How they work, the different types and how to open them using non destructive and destructive techniques. Including Lock Picking, Using Mica, Use of The Letter Box Tool, Snapping, Drilling, Bumping and use of the Lock Puller Tool.
Wafer Locks- The different types and how to open them using non destructive and destructive techniques.
UPVC Doors & Windows- Identifying common problems, how to open Multi Point Locks (MPL), identification and replacement of Multipoint Door & Window Locks including obsolete locks. Adjustment of Hinges, Replacement of Door & Window Handles, Replacing Euro Cylinders including those on patio slave doors.
Lever Locks- How they work the different types and how to open them using both non destructive and destructive techniques. Fitting of Mortice Locks.
Final Exam- Theory and Scenario Practical Tests.
